The tradition
Kilim and ćilim
In Serbian, Croatian and Bosnian the flat-woven rug is called ćilim, from the Turkish kilim, which came from Persian. In Serbia the Pirot kilim is a protected geographical indication, and rug making in Pirot has been on the national register of intangible cultural heritage since 2012.
In 2014 UNESCO added the carpet making of Chiprovtsi in Bulgaria, two-sided kilims woven on vertical looms, to its list of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity. The wall carpets of Romania and Moldova followed in 2016. They served as decoration and insulation, and as part of a bride's dowry.
Our designs are not copies of any one country's rugs. Each is re-drawn from heritage rug motifs for the scale of a car floor.
Cut to your car, or in a universal size
Choose your make, model and year and the set is cut to the floor of that car. The universal sizes need no model: V1 for a top-hung accelerator pedal, V2 for a floor-mounted one.
