The tradition
From Konya to the Renaissance
The oldest Turkish carpets in the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Arts in Istanbul were found in 1905 in the Alaeddin Mosque in Konya. They date from the 13th century and are tied with the symmetrical knot that is still known as the Turkish knot.
Anatolian carpets reached Europe early. Two groups, the Holbein and Lotto carpets, are named after the painters Hans Holbein the Younger and Lorenzo Lotto, who painted them. In Renaissance Italy they were draped over tables and hung from balconies, and only sometimes laid on the floor. The kilim, a flat-woven rug without pile, took its name from Persian by way of Turkish.
Our designs are not copies of any one country's rugs. Each is re-drawn from heritage rug motifs for the scale of a car floor.
Cut to your car, or in a universal size
Choose your make, model and year and the set is cut to the floor of that car. The universal sizes need no model: V1 for a top-hung accelerator pedal, V2 for a floor-mounted one.
